In 2023, the Cities of Wayne, Westland, Inkster, and Garden City were jointly awarded federal funding through the Safe Streets for All program to develop a Unified Safety Action Plan inclusive of all four communities. The Plan creates a framework for addressing the 4-city region’s most pressing transportation safety, affordability, access, and equity challenges for all transit modes and roadway users and will make our community eligible for implementation resources.

• The Final Unified Safety Action Plan is up for Adoption. Community members are encouraged to review the Plan and share their comments with the Project Team:
  • Review the Safe Streets for All Unified Safety Action Plan.
  • Send your comments by email to Paul Urbiel, AICP at purbiel@mcka.com
  • Attend your community's respective City Council meeting, where City Council will consider adoption of the Plan (see your local agendas for more information!).
