Welcome to the Lansing Non-Motorized Transportation Plan!
We’re excited to invite you to help shape the future of how we move around Lansing. The City is embarking on a planning process to enhance our non-motorized (biking and walking) networks, an effort to make it easier, safer, more enjoyable, and more sustainable for everyone to walk, bike, and access transit throughout Lansing.
What is a non-motorized transportation system?
It’s a network of sidewalks, bike lanes, trails, and crossings that connect people to parks, neighborhoods, businesses, and downtown destinations. By improving these connections, we can create a healthier, more vibrant, more sustainable, and more accessible community for all.
Our Project Goals:
- Support a Greener Future: Promote transportation options that reduce emissions and support a more sustainable city.
- Better Connections: Identify ways to link parks, neighborhoods, shopping centers, and workplaces so everyone can get where they need to go.
- Safer Streets: Find ways to make intersections and crossings safer for people of all ages and abilities.
- Improve the Network: Expand and improve bikeways, trails, and signage to make travel easier and more intuitive.
- More Recreation: Enhance access to Lansing’s parks and recreational amenities for everyone to enjoy.
- Education & Events: Identify key programs and events to encourage walking, biking, and using transit.
- Complete Streets: Ensure our streets are designed for everyone—whether you walk, bike, roll, or drive
Please help inform this vision for Lansing! Find information about our engagement opportunities in the Community Engagement Opportunities Section, detailed to the right.
